Birmingham Metropolitan College is one of the leading Colleges in terms of sporting performance, with teams regularly exceeding expectations and achievements.
Last year, we were named College of the Year by British Colleges Sport (BCS) and the Association of Colleges (AoC) for our fantastic achievements in 2012/13.
How do the Sports Academies work?
There are two ways to get involved with Sports Academies at BMet!
You can apply to join one of our Academy teams whatever subject you choose! The sports academy runs alongside your main course of study and there are 18 sports to choose from. You will receive specialist technical and tactical coaching for a minimum of twice a week* (approximately 6-8 hours) from qualified coaches. You will also play competitive matches on Wednesday afternoons against other colleges in local, regional and national competitions.
For those who are more keen, you can join our specialist Academies where you study a sports qualification alongside training and coaching from professional sports organisations and clubs. You will train with a professional coach on Monday and Thursday mornings study in between and Wednesday afternoons will be devoted to competitions. Our Academy programme includes: Rugby; Football (male and female); Boxing; and Golf. You apply for these Academies before joining the College and you can find out more on our website.
