This AAT course provides the higher level of skills needed by accounting personnel progressing onto management and financial accounting. It is a nationally recognised qualification from a prestigious awarding body leading to AAT membership. The course will allow use of the designatory letters MAAT and offers enhanced career prospects.
The AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting Level 4 prepares you to hold a senior finance role by teaching you to undertake advanced processes, such as drafting financial statements for limited companies, performing complex management accounting tasks for budget preparation and analysis, effective management decision making and control and developing your management skills. You will also study two specialist units for cash management and credit control.
You must possess the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting
Delivery and Assessment
All other units will be assessed by computer-based examination. The key aspects of the main core units of Financial Statements, Budgeting, Decision and Control and Accounting Systems and Control will also be examined in a synoptic assessment once you have attempted all unitised core assessments.
Passing all the examinations and gaining full AAT membership will significantly enhance your employment and career prospects. You may also progress to ACCA (exempt F1, F2 and F3), ACA (with exemptions) or CIMA Managerial Level, or onto an accountancy and finance degree. These professional accountancy bodies recognise the AAT qualification as being equivalent to a UK degree in accounts, and grant similar exemptions from parts of their qualification.
Many HE institutions will also provide direct entry to the second year of their BA(Hons) Accounting Degrees once you have completed your Level 4.
