This level includes the basic building blocks of financial accounting, double entry book keeping. You will also cover additional units vital to the role of accounts assistant eg computerised accounts and basic costing techniques. You will also be introduced to some basic spreadsheets, Ethics for accountants and client communication skills.
You will need to be able to demonstrate strong written communication skills via GCSE grade C or above in English Language or Level 2 literacy at Initial Assessment. Additionally GCSE maths at grade C or the ability to demonstrate past numerical ability from the workplace is essentrial if you are to get the most from the course.
Delivery and Assessment
The AAT is assessed by computer based exams and computer based projects. In addition to the unitised exams for each of the accounting units you will also complete a synoptic assessment covering the key elements of all of those unit plus the additional skills for accounting communications.
You can progress onto AAT Diploma in Accounting Level 3 after successfully completing this course This course can also be undertaken as part of an apprenticeship programme.
