Interviews

We interview all applicants for our full-time FE programmes including diplomas and A Levels. Once you’ve applied, you will be contacted by the Student Services team inviting you to attend the next available interview evening. You should expect to hear from us within two weeks of submitting your application. If you don’t hear from us you can call us on 0121 446 4545 / 01384 344 344.

What will happen at my interview?

You will be interviewed by a member of staff from the subject area you have applied for. They will talk to you about your interests and hobbies and your future ambitions and reasons for choosing the course(s). You will also have an opportunity to discuss the content and further details of the course so you can find out if it’s right for you.

What do I need to bring with me?

Please bring your most recent school report (16-18 applicants only) and/or any other supporting documents you would like to show at your interview.

Some of our courses require you to provide a portfolio of work or undertake a short audition piece. You will be provided with further details of these requirements with your interview letter.

You can bring up to two people with you to your interview; they will need to wait in our Student Service areas whilst you undertake your interview.

If you have any further questions about any requirements please contact our Student Service team on 0121 446 4545 / 01384 344 344.

What happens following my interview?

You will normally receive your offer at the end of your interview. It is important to be aware that the course you are offered may not always be the course that you have applied for.

You will receive written confirmation by email/letter of the course offer made this will confirm the offer made at your interview and detail if you have been given a conditional offer (subject to grades) or an unconditional offer.

You will need to tell us that you want to accept our offer. Further details will be included on your offer letter.

Interview Tips

  • Be prepared – think of any questions you might want to ask in advance and write them down.
  • Make an effort – although it is an informal interview, think about how you present yourself and what impression that will give people.
  • Be punctual – make sure you know where the interview is, how to get there and how long it takes
  • Don’t forget – bring your interview letter and any evidence you need such as exam certificates or school reports
  • Stay calm! This is a chance for you to find out more about the college and the course too!
