Harriers Academy celebrate Team of the Year accolade

The team’s sporting highlights include winning the Football Conference Youth Alliance League as well as the Conference Youth National Cup.

“The team is thrilled to bits to have been chosen for this special award,” said Academy Manager, Andrew Blakeley. “It’s been a truly amazing year. The award makes it all the more special because it shows our hard work and team mentality are admired by sportsmen and women across the college who are behind us all the way.”

The Harriers Academy combines elite level training with a BTEC sports qualification. Players have gone on to join the Kidderminster Harriers’ first team and other clubs while many others have progressed to university and employment.

These include 2015 Academy graduate, Luke Maxwell who studied a BTEC sport programme, was midfielder for the Kidderminster Harriers and in January, was sold for £75,000 to Birmingham City Football Club.

Andrew Blakeley continued: “The profile of the Academy continues to rise because of our strong training ethic, the centre’s facilities and our ability to promote academic excellence to all our players. It encourages us to look ahead to the new football season with more confidence than ever.”

The Academy is run by Stourbridge College from their Centre of Sporting Excellence in Kidderminster.

An additional trial event to join the Harriers Academy is taking place on Wednesday 10 August at 10.30am. To register and for further details visit this page or www.harriers.co.uk
