This a fantastic opportunity to work within the dental sector. You will be meeting and greeting patients, signing them in checking whether they are fee paying or exempt from NHS fees, being chatty /friendly and asking them how they are as some people are nervous coming to see the dentist. You must have a pleasant personality, calming and caring.

What will the apprentice be doing?
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get practical experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
- Demonstrate patience and calmness.
- Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
- Use a range of questioning skills, including listening and responding in a way that builds rapport, determines customer needs and expectations.
- Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
- Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and the organisation.
- Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills, along with summarising language during face-to-face communications.
- Use appropriate communication skills, along with reinforcement techniques (to confirm understanding) whilst answering telephone calls.
- Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
- Treat all customers as individuals to provide a personalised customer service experience.
- Demonstrate personal pride in the job through appropriate dress and positive and confident language.
- Take ownership from the first contact and then take responsibility for fulfilling your promise.
- Contribute via a work rota and undertake cleaning duties as and when required

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- The successful apprentice will complete a full ‘Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard’.
- The training will be delivered by Birmingham Metropolitan College on a flexible day release delivery model. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
- There is no requirement to attend college as the training is delivered remotely.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the right candidate could be offered a full-time role with progression on to more advanced learning programmes.
