Carpentry & Joinery Diploma Level 1

This is a combined hands-on and theoretical course where you will learn the basic skills to prepare you for a career as a site carpenter in the construction industry. It’s designed for learners who have a desire and ambition to become a tradesperson in the construction industry.

The course is designed to help you progress your training within a practical environment and includes theory assignments with two online exams. You will be fully supported by our expert tutors, who will expect you to be self-motivated and keen to achieve.

You will study safe working practices, building methods and produce basic woodworking joints. You will also learn how to maintain and use hand tools and how to use portable power tools.

The training will allow you to learn, develop and practice the skills required for a career in carpentry.

With this course you’ll be taking an important step forward in the first stage of your career as a carpenter and gaining the skills, knowledge and behaviours construction companies are keen to employ.

You will need minimum GCSE grade D/3 in maths and English.

This course is assessed by 9 practical assessments and 5 theory exams.

Upon successful completion of the programme and gaining employment within the carpentry or joinery industry you can then progress onto an apprenticeship. Alternatively you can progress onto the Level 2 Site Carpentry Diploma.
