Level 1 - Introductory

ESOL 16-18

If English is your second language this is the course for you. This course will help you to improve your spoken English as well as build confidence in reading and writing.

Alongside improving your speaking and listening and reading and writing skills, you will develop important social and team working skills to help you continue with your studies or enter employment.

* Courses are free for 16-18s. Students aged 19 or over could be charged fees and is subject to a fee assessment. Learners on benefits in the majority of cases courses are also free. Fee assessments are completed at enrolment.

Course Length: 35 Weeks

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. We will assess your skills to ensure you are enrolled onto the most appropriate course for you to succeed.

There are 3 assessments to this course:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Speaking and Listening.

At entry level there is continually assessment and at level 1 & 2 there are formal tests.

When you have completed this programme you can either progress to a higher level ESOL course (E1 –E3 & level 1&2) or if you have passed ESOL level 1 you can progress into a vocational course of your choice. If you have completed ESOL level 2 you could progress to an apprenticeship or a higher level vocational course.
