Horticulture Diploma Level 2 (Adult Learner)

This qualification covers the skills you will need to progress to further learning and training, or to enter the world of work within the horticultural sector.

You will get lots of practice and support to enable you to develop the required skills and knowledge to prepare you for the learning and end assessment.

This course is full time over two days a week (16 hours).

* Courses are free for 16-18s. Students aged 19 or over could be charged fees and is subject to a fee assessment. Learners on benefits in the majority of cases courses are also free. Fee assessments are completed at enrolment.

Course Length: 35 Weeks

There is no formal entry requirements, all learners will be considered on application.

You’ll learn hands-on skills in a straightforward, bite-size way, and come away with a formal qualification. Assessment methods are synoptic assignment, unit assignment, theory exam and practical assessments.

Once you have completed this course you can continue onto the Level 3 qualifications in Horticulture or you can apply for jobs in the industry.

You will study the following mandatory content:

  • Health and safety for the land-based industries
  • Working in the horticulture industry
  • Plant naming, identification, selection and science
  • Establishment and maintenance of plants outdoors
  • Care, maintenance and use of tools and machinery
  • Horticulture business skills

You will then study one optional unit.
