The field of social media offers excellent employment opportunities as the world of digital marketing becomes as critical aspect of any business. Media production is the art of visual storytelling through film and sound. You will learn the skills of shooting, producing, and editing video, as well as the basics of lighting and sound production.

Are you interested in making engaging content to influence an audience? Do you like using your imagination for a creative purpose? If so, this could be the ideal course for you.

During this course you will learn how to develop your initial ideas and manage your projects through to completion, alongside transferrable skills such as research. You will build your confidence and gain knowledge of the exciting creative industries that are some of the fastest growing in the UK. You will also have the opportunity to complete 'live' briefs and enter industry-focused competitions that will help you build your portfolio to aid your progression.

If you are the kind of person who looks at the world in a more critical, creative way than everybody else, then media is the route for you!

Awarded by Awarding Body you will achieve a UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology on completion of this course.

* Courses are free for 16-18s. Students aged 19 or over could be charged fees and is subject to a fee assessment. Learners on benefits in the majority of cases courses are also free. Fee assessments are completed at enrolment.

Course Length: 35 Weeks

You will need 4 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including English and maths. Alternatively you will need a Level 2 Diploma in a related subject at a merit or distinction grade.

This programme of study is totally assessed by coursework.  You will be assessed in a variety of ways including your contribution to: practical work, presentations, essays, journals, blogs, tutor interviews, group discussions, short films, storyboards, App designs, visual images, sketchbooks and live film events.

This course leads into a variety of higher education courses or an apprenticeship.  Most new employees who work in the media industry have a degree or higher but if you choose to look for employment after this course you will find that your digital interactive media skills portfolio will aid you in any media related job.
