This course is an Pearl recognised qualification that gives Adults the opportunity to progress into University to study in the Sport, Exercise Health, Leisure and Fitness Industries. The teaching of Access to Sports Studies is online via distance learning and provides the student with the ability to study at a time that is convenient to them. The course is designed for people with life experience outside of formal education who would like to study at University but who haven’t yet achieved the appropriate qualification to gain access to HE.

This course offers the opportunity to progress into university to study in the Sport, Exercise Health, Leisure and Fitness Industries. The teaching of Access to Sports Studies is online via distance learning and provides the student with the ability to study at a time that is convenient to them.

By obtaining an Access to Higher Education Diploma (Sports Science), you can progress to degree-level study, focusing on a subject related to your career goals. For example, you could go on to study a foundation degree in sports coaching and development, physiotherapy, exercise science and many more.

This course develops skills and knowledge by studying a wide range of topics. These will enable you  to understand key elements of components within the Sport Industry with a scientific leaning to the elements covered.

Preferably GCSE subject passes in PE, Science, English and Maths. Students must be OVER 19 at the date of enrolment. Mature students without any formal qualifications are encouraged to apply with life experience outside formal education and ability to undertake study at Level 3. Commitment to study and desire to follow a career in the sports sector is an essential pre-requisite for any potential student. Mature students will undertake an additional interview to ascertain skills and motivations for the full time study commitment.

You have two years to study this online course. This is through a variety of methods designed to improve skills and techniques. A range of units make up this qualification, with an assignment at the end of each.

Degrees include Sports Sciences; Physical Education; Sports Coaching; Sport Management; Sports Therapies which can have a progression into more sophisticated Physiotherapy, Injury & Rehabilitation pathways. The college has its own HE Pathways and links to local universities which are highlighted and discussed through a tutorial/pastoral programme.
