This is a multi-disciplinary course that builds upon the basics of drawing to develop and refine your visual ideas. This qualification is designed to provide you with increasingly sophisticated skills to express your ideas and you will undertake projects in Fine Art, Photography, Graphic Design, and Textiles.

This course is for anyone that knows they wish to progress towards a career in the creative industries. You will spend a lot of time in specialist studios and workshops. You will learn about the creative industries and possible job roles. You will learn how to research and develop design ideas and produce finished designs and models. There will be opportunities to take part in research trips locally and to other cities. The creative industries cover a wide range of art and design skills and you will begin to develop these skills along with developing more general skills in English, Maths and Social Development.

Awarded by UAL Awarding Body you will achieve a UAL Level 1 Award and Diploma in Art, Design and Media on completion of this course.

* Courses are free for 16-18s. Students aged 19 or over could be charged fees and is subject to a fee assessment. Learners on benefits in the majority of cases courses are also free. Fee assessments are completed at enrolment.

Course Length: 35 Weeks

An interest in media, games design and/or digital art is essential. All applicants are considered and may be given a place based upon their interview and portfolio. GCSE Maths and English at Grade 2 or above, or Functional Skills equivalent are preferable.

Assessment is 100% coursework with regular verbal and written feedback. You will produce practical work, evidence folders, sketchbooks and a final art portfolio.

After completion you can progress on to level 2 course in Art & Design. You will have the opportunity to improve English, maths and employability skills to prepare for work or apprenticeship opportunities.
