Studying this course, you will develop your knowledge and understanding of
fashion business and retail and prepares you for the reality of the sector. The
qualification has been designed to incorporate a strong element of vocational
learning to provide you with the understanding, knowledge and skills identified
as necessary for future progression and employment. Fashion Business and
Retail Units 1 and 2, provide an introduction to the skills, knowledge and
understanding necessary to explore, enhance and sustain your creative
development and determine a standard from which all other activities and
learning will develop.
The UAL Level 3 Diploma in Fashion Business and Digital Marketing is made up
of eight units and students must successfully complete all of them – all units
are mandatory. All units are delivered through vocational learning, here are
some that are covered;
- An introduction to a range of elements that contribute to the fashion
retail environment
- An introduction to the diversity of roles and activities within the fashion
retail sector, and the skills needed for a career in fashion business and
retail
- An introduction to the history and context of the fashion retail industry
and an awareness of the value of contextual research in informing knowledge and
ideas
- An introduction to the specific skills, attributes and methods required for
communicating ideas in fashion business and retail and alternative approaches
for effectively communicating to a wide range of audiences
- An introduction to fashion production and an understanding of the specific
roles and responsibilities of the operations team in a fashion business and an
opportunity to integrate and apply learning in a fashion production and
operations context.
Awarded by UAL Level 3 Diploma
and Extended Diploma in Fashion Business and Retail on completion of this
course.
* Courses are free for 16-18s. Students aged 19 or over could be charged fees and is subject to a fee assessment. Learners on benefits in the majority of cases courses are also free. Fee assessments are completed at enrolment.
Students are assessed via a ‘Final Major Project’ which takes place at the
end of the course when they are at their best. This large project allows
students to demonstrate all the learning that has taken place through completion
of the other units. This unit is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction and
determines the overall qualification grade.
On successfully completing the UAL Level 2 Diploma in Fashion Business and
Retail students can progress to further study at level 3 in Fashion Clothing
Design or Fashion Business & Retail. Alternatively students may progress
directly into entry-level roles in the creative industries.
