BMet athletes through to cross country national championships
They qualified for the championships after picking up gold and bronze medals respectively at the regional championships.
Shaun, who picked up silver at the nationals last season, said: “2015 nationals were a real high point for me – I’d love to now go one better and take home gold, but I know the competition is tough.”
Alex, who studies IT, added “I’m really excited about reaching the nationals for the first time as I know there is nothing like it at this level.”
Both are on strict training sessions leading up to the event, taking 4/5km practice running sessions around five times a week.
“The training sessions are intense but everyone is very supportive.”
Aiming to run for GB in the future, Shaun said “My goal is to get my track times down and eventually compete in international competitions with the next two years.”
As well as Shaun and Alex, BMet’s men’s hockey team have also qualified for their national championships in 2017.
