BMet celebrates diversity in apprenticeships during National Apprenticeship Week

The focus for this year’s National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) is to “look beyond” traditional routes to employment.

Now in its 13th year, NAW is a celebration of apprenticeships bringing the whole apprenticeship community together to reflect on the positive impact of apprenticeships on individuals, employers and the economy.

Taking place between the 03 to 09 February, BMet will fly the flag for apprenticeships with daily reports on different apprenticeship career routes.

The BMet marketing apprentice will be a roving reporter throughout the week revealing just how important apprenticeships are and the diversity on offer in terms of career options

Tune into the website and social media channels throughout the week to watch a series of interviews, podcasts and films featuring apprentices in different fields – all showcasing the breadth of opportunity available.

Chloe Power, BMet’s Junior Content Producer Apprentice, said: “I have really enjoyed putting together content for this very special week, as I can very much relate to the importance and value of apprenticeships.

Through the materials created, I wanted to highlight the fact that there are now a broad range of apprenticeship routes available to suit a range of different needs, which people may not already know about.

During the week we also say thank you to our employers and I will be delivering boxes of chocolate to local employers thanking them for their support. Look out for the photos on social media.”

Overall the 2020 National Apprenticeship Week aims to showcase the true meaning of diversity within apprenticeships including:

  • calling on young people to look beyond traditional routes into employment and explore the diversity of career options and industries now available to them through apprenticeships;

  • calling on employers to look beyond traditional hiring routes and shout about the value they already see from diversifying their workforce by employing apprentices

  • calling on parents and teachers to look beyond old preconceptions around apprenticeships, building understanding of the true value they bring and sharing this with young people.

 Cliff Hall, Principal at BMet, said: National Apprenticeship Week is a fantastic opportunity to highlight the value of apprenticeships, which are a huge benefit to employers and apprentices alike.

At BMet, we offer a range of apprenticeship courses and this year’s diversity theme provides us with the opportunity to showcase alternative gateways to employment and career progression.
