BMet has achieved Disability Confident Leaders status
BMet are proud to announce that we have achieved Disability Confident Leaders status, which is a recognition of our ongoing efforts to improve disability inclusion across all levels of the organisation. It is a testament to the work that we have been doing to create a more accessible and supportive environment for employees with disabilities, impairments, health conditions and neurodivergence. It acknowledges the exciting work we have been leading on for example championing Accessible Apprenticeships, Supported Internships and Birmingham’s Disability Festival.
The Disability Confident scheme is a government (Department for Work and Pensions) programme. Leader status is awarded to organisations that have demonstrated a significant commitment to disability inclusion, going beyond basic compliance and actively fostering an environment where people with disabilities are recruited, supported, and given opportunities for career progression. It is an important milestone in the journey toward becoming a truly inclusive organisation as well as supporting other businesses we work with to become Disability Confident themselves.
Director of People and Culture, Alison Jones, said, “Securing Disability Confident Leaders status is an important achievement. It is one step in a much larger journey. While we celebrate the progress we have made, we remain dedicated to ensuring that our work environment is truly accessible and empowering for all of our staff. We are committed to continuous improvement and continue to actively engage with disabled staff and external experts. to identify and address areas for development particularly accessibility of internal and external environments and effective communication and support mechanisms.
