Support BMet Sports Students on Their Once-in-a-Lifetime Boston Trip – Donate Today!
Ten talented BMet sports students have been selected for a prestigious, once-in-a-lifetime trip to Boston, USA, under the government’s Turing Scheme. As part of their ‘Boston 2 BMet Fundraiser,’ they are seeking donations to support their educational and sports experiences abroad.
As part of the trip, which has been organised by the Association of Colleges (AoC), students will get to experience life, culture, and sport in the US. This will include undertaking work and volunteering opportunities at a variety of sporting venues, local colleges, and other establishments ‘across the pond.’

This experience will allow students to develop their skills in an international setting, offering them insights into:
- Higher education in the USA – including university visits
- Sports coaching and training techniques in different environments
- Work placements and volunteering opportunities at top sporting venues
- Cultural exchange and networking with professionals in the sports industry
How You Can Support the BMet Boston 2 BMet Fundraiser
In preparation for the Boston trip, students organised a sports fundraising event at BMet’s Sutton Coldfield College in February, featuring challenges like:
- Fastest 100m row
- Longest time on a balance board
- Furthest standing jump
- Most kick-ups in 30 seconds
Currently, they have raised £350 and are seeking additional donations to help cover costs and enhance their learning experience abroad.
Meet the BMet Students Heading to Boston
Here’s what some of the participating level 3 sports science students said:
Briar:
“I can’t wait to go on the trip, as I will get a real insight into America and would like to explore how it differs to the UK. I am really looking forward to finding out more about the USA’s education system and I would like to look at their gymnastic colleges, which we don’t have here.”
Kurtis:
“I see it as a privilege to have the chance to experience this trip, as not everyone will have this once in a lifetime opportunity! I am looking forward to seeing the universities in Boston, as I would like to study in the USA and would like a sports scholarship to play soccer.”
Caitlin:
“I feel lucky to be 1 of the 10 people to be selected for this great excursion. I have never been to America before and I am so excited to go! I am particularly looking forward to seeing a live basketball game and in the future, I would like to be a footballer or a sports therapist.”
David:
“I am very interested to go to Boston, as I have never been before and I looking forward to creating great memories. I am hoping to secure a future in football and sports therapy and think having a wider global knowledge of sports will be enriching.”
