BMet’s longstanding partnership with Baxi and Currys continues to benefit apprentices
BMet boasts a long and successful history of collaboration with construction industry partners, which has provided rewarding career paths and opportunities for apprenticeships.
The college’s strong relationships with Baxi (since 2011) and Curry’s (since 2018) exemplifies this, with mutually beneficial and fruitful outcomes for apprentices, employers and BMet.
Employer partnerships are crucial to delivering high-quality Gas Engineering training and assessment programs, that align with national apprenticeship standards.
BMet’s expertise has provided valuable technical resources and support for gas installers, significantly contributing to the safety and efficiency of gas installations for both companies over many years.
Training takes place at James Watt College in Great Barr, with learners attending on block release from across England, as well as from Scotland and Wales through alternative provision outside the apprenticeship standard.
Andy Lees, Director of Construction at BMet said: “Curry’s and Baxi maintain long-standing sponsorships at the James Watt College, providing learners with access to cutting-edge resources. This ensures training and assessments are conducted using the latest equipment.
“Curry’s supplies a range of gas and dual fuel cookers, offering apprentices diverse training opportunities. Baxi supply the latest models of Boiler and utilise the James Watt College as a product training hub, enabling practicing gas engineers to remain current on their latest product offerings.
“The James Watt campus offers a purpose-built training and assessment environment, complete with fully operational ACS (Accredited Certification Scheme) and EPA (End Point assessment) test centres.”
Here is what key representatives from Baxi and Curry’s had to say about their flourishing relationships with BMet.
Chris Riley, Head of Service Operations at Baxi: “We have had a very successful collaborative relationship with BMet since 2021. Our partnership has provided both support and funding for our apprentices, helping us to train the next generation of service engineers. Our apprentices benefit from comprehensive support from their Baxi Mentor who guides them in the workplace, combined with block release at James Watt College – using their state of the art gas engineering workshop and learning from their highly skilled tutors.“
Chloe Richardson, Training Academy Manager at Currys: “Our partnership with BMET helps us develop the next generation of talent by combining hands-on experience with technical training. Apprentices get the skills and confidence they need to grow, and we gain capable and committed colleagues who are ready to support our business at Currys.”
BMet is proud of their ever-growing collaborations and partnerships, which ensure leading employers like Curry’s and Baxi, can provide their customers with the highest level of service.
We look forward to continuing to develop training packages with like-minded employers, maintaining a top standard of excellence in training and assessment.
