BTEC says Sian’s a good sport
“I was surprised and very proud to have been commended,” said Sian who completed a sport and exercise diploma at the college in 2015. “I really valued the practical skills and experiences I developed through my BTEC qualification.
“I achieved my goal of going to university and have carried on my love of sports coaching by supporting my university’s netball team. During my time at the college, I learned how important it was to promote inclusivity in sport and encourage people to take part in it regularly. I really enjoyed doing that. I plan to carry on with this by training to become a primary school teacher.”
In addition to her college studies, Sian joining the Air Training Corps and participated in a coaching programme in Morocco for children with disabilities. She is currently studying a sports development and coaching degree at Northumbria University.
The National BTEC Awards recognise up to one million students who are studying BTEC qualifications this year. Pearson, the awarding body for BTEC qualifications, received nearly 1,000 nominations across the 19 award categories for this year’s awards.
