Businesses can enhance their digital expertise with BMet T Level student placements
Employers across the West Midlands are set to further benefit from the digital knowledge and skills of T Level students from BMet’s colleges, through valuable industry placements.
Furthermore, as part of T Levels Week, BMet is encouraging employers to partner with BMet to deliver mutually rewarding T Level student placements.
BMet offers the Digital Production, Design & Development Technical and Digital Support Services & Cyber T Level courses, which have proven to be a great foundation for students to provide invaluable work whilst training with employers.
T Levels are new 2-year courses taken after GCSE’s and are broadly equivalent in size to 3 A Levels. The new qualifications combine classroom theory, practical learning and industry placement to ensure students gain real experience of the workplace.
Through T Levels, students are offered a mixture of classroom learning and ‘on-the-job’ experience during an industry placement of at least 45 days/9 weeks, to equip learners with the knowledge and skills companies are looking for.
Porchevi, who is studying the Digital Support Services and Cyber T Level course at Matthew Boulton College, is currently on a placement with Gately Plc.
In his role, he is a First Line Supporter for Gately employees and external clients, resolving IT issues through the Business Service Desk.
Porchevi said: “I am really enjoying my experience on my placement, which is very rewarding. I am developing and gaining confidence, knowledge and skills as I am progressing, which is enabling me to be successful using a variety of systems operations.
“My BMet course has definitely given me an overall insight into the digital world, which is invaluable to my work at Gately and I know that the course is a stepping stone into a range of industry placements and future careers.
“I would certainly recommend that students study a T Level course at BMet and that employers take on BMet students to perform roles in their businesses, companies and organisations, as it is mutually beneficial for both parties.”
Ruqiyah, is studying the Digital Production, Design and Developmental Technical course at Sutton Coldfield College, whilst currently being on a placement with Applio.
Whilst on her placement, she gets involved in activities like adding features into digital products, advising on how to improve system functionality, risk assessments, speaking to clients and creating user profiles.
She said: “I am gaining a good practical insight into how a business runs effectively during my placement and am able to use the skills I have acquired on my college course, to push forward digital advancements at Applio.
“Studying business is a key part of the course, along with learning other relevant subject areas and competencies, which has helped me adapt to my placement smoothly and provide the digital support that the company needs with more ease.
“Industry placements with BMet students are a “win win” for student work experience needs and for employers filling skillset gaps in their workplaces!”
