Double silver success for Sutton Ability Counts footballers
Sutton Coldfield College’s Ability Counts football team has scooped their second silver medal of the season after becoming finalists in two national college events. The team took silver at the Association of Colleges’ (AoC) national championships and at the Association of Colleges’ national college finals.
The team has also enjoyed an unbeaten run in the Abilty Counts Football West Midlands Festival Leagues.
Coach, Stuart Jamieson, said: “This is a huge achievement for a team that only played together a few times before the competitions took place. I’m immensely proud of all they have accomplished.”
This is the first year that the college has been involved in Sutton Coldfield’s Ability Counts disability football league. As part of their training, the team of 20 has been developing their skills and having trials at West Bromwich Albion football club.
Sports student, Harry Williams, who managed a number of goals across many matches, said: “It’s been a brilliant experience to be involved in all the tournaments and getting to play a wide a variety of teams.”
