Queensbury students gain life and green living skills with James Watt College

Not only have a group of Queensbury school students developed new life skills, they’ve also been inspired to think creatively about their local environment.

The 17-19 year-olds took part in Birmingham City Council’s Brum Goes Green poster competition with a number of students across the college.  And it was an eye-catching design from one of Queensbury’s students that was put forward as the college’s finalist entry.

Pauline Barker, Department Manager at the college said: “When the students were told about the competition they were keen to be involved.  They all came up with some amazing ideas.  It was a lovely way to top up the learning experiences they’ve enjoyed during their time with us at the college.”

The students completed an independent life skills course over 12 weeks.  It involved them going through the process of owning or renting a property and furnishing it.

Each student was awarded a certificate by the college in celebration of their learning achievements.
