When Sharandeep shadowed Ruth – Career College student steps into CEO’s shoes

Business studies student, Sharandeep had a great time seeing the education world through the eyes of a chief executive. She spent the day shadowing Career Colleges, Ruth Gilbert during their third annual conference in London.

“The conference was a busy time and I got to see a lot of the things Ruth was involved in,” said Sharandeep. “One of her biggest roles on the day was to lead on a discussion with a group of college principals about digital marketing.  The session showed how much the sector has evolved and I also found it useful to see the different ways that everyone presented their ideas.”

Sharandeep has come to the end of her two-year Career College Business and Professional programme which she studied at Matthew Boulton College.

“I’d first met Ruth last May when she came to the official launch of our Career Colleges,” she continued. “It was great to be able to tell her how much my friends and I have done since then.

“For me, it’s been about gaining lots of practical experience to support my studies and being more confident because of this. I’ve also appreciated networking activities I’ve been involved in and the work experience I’ve done at Gateley and Handelsbanken.  You don’t really get opportunities to do things like this in school so I’ve really valued this.”

Sharandeep is going on to study a business degree at university.
